How y'all doin'? I, of course am on top of the world, having had my book appear on Amazon, and made my first sale! Whatever else you want to call me, it must now include the words "Professional Author!" Two posts down, you can read the story of my involvement with a friend called "Chops," who led me from the realm of epic fantasy, where I couldn't make a dent, to steampunk, where things are beginning to fall into place.
Well, earlier this afternoon, Chops swung by for a visit to service an appointment we had made to get together for some down time. With him, he brought a big box wrapped in red which he stated was in honor of me publishing my book. Was it ever! Chops has long-been something of a 3-D artist, turning junk into treasure, but here he has outdone himself, "real-izing" the big Nerf pistol in flawless metallic and wood-textured paints, and mounting it in a frame which now hangs above my desk. The apparent lopsidedness of the frame is due to my photography and the angle I had to use to make the flash pick up the details; you may rest assured that all his work is perfect.
The brass plate reads, "Presented to Missy Hobbs ~ 'Jambo,' Faraji," a reference to the fact that during the escape detailed in Episode 6, "Missy Hobbs," the pilot, lost her firearm. She will need to be re-equipped, and this looks like a good candidate.
I cannot be worthy of my wonderful friends. Thank you, my brother, thank you, and thank you!
Now, get out there and live life like you mean it!
