London, 1910. Spoilt and wild, Genevieve Cranston is a girl with little to live for when her partying ways fling her into the gutters of London after the suspicious death of her father, and the mysterious disappearance of her younger brother Lindsey.

Rescued, redeemed and trained by the suffragette movement, she will stop at nothing to find her missing brother. She is soon caught up in a dense political web of deceit and double-dealing, as both sides of the political landscape manoeuvre to win and shape the future of the free world.

Time is running out. War with Europe is on the horizon, and Genevieve needs to grow up fast. Lindsey is an important player in the game of cat and mouse, and Genevieve will stop at nothing to protect him. With the aid of some gifted friends, she is hell bent on finding the truth, and revenge.

     Unless it all goes wrong.

At last word, this is on track for a January release.  It is the work of my friend, Mark Lingane.  I feel very comfortable recommending this, not because he is my friend, but because I have read Tesla, and know from personal experience that he can handle a convoluted story with the ease and grace of Mohammed Ali working over the "Bum of the Week."  I will announce here when this releases, at which point you can all do yourselves a favor and get acquainted with one of the brightest undiscovered lights in the steampunk genre.

As for my own business, I am firmly back on track.  I suspect that my little speed bump was engendered by too many choices that, once made, would exclude the others.  A long discussion with my artist, the closest thing I have to a collaborator, a confidant if you will, in this lonely trade, has gotten me settled back on the rails.  Volume 2, now subtitled Soldier of the Crown, has been formatted, proofread, and can go to press whenever the cover is ready.  I'm not going to rush her, because every day I wait is another day to proofread, and as any writer knows, there is always another typo!
Looking further ahead to Volume 3, some of you have seen the Jinxed cover.  I think it's in the pages of this blog somewhere.  Forget it.  I'm going with a new commission for the book that now looks to be subtitled Slayer of Darkness.  I have been looking at making Volume 3 a one-story novel, but I haven't had much success going down that road.  What I'm looking at now is going with four stories, each about twice as long as the ones you have been accustomed to, thereby opening up more convoluted storylines, while preserving the flexibility and variety of the short story collection...  At least that's my hope.  Anyway, I'm setting up some templates for this format, and early results look very promising.  I'll keep you posted here, and as always, any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
And that's 30 for today.  Play nice, look out for one another, and above all else, get out there and live life like you mean it!
